Vintage Beauce Carillon carafe set by Jacques Grenier, circa 1960s. Ten piece set. Brown with yellow. Excellent condition!
The Céramique de Beauce company was founded in 1940 by the Quebec government to encourage a "handcraft renaissance" in rural Quebec. Its provincial pottery school was first located in Beauceville, then Saint-Joseph-de-Beauce... Only places with "beauce" in the title, which could be quite limiting if you didn't live in Quebec.
Anyway, it became a full-fledged industrial pottery manufacturer, specializing in unique, colourful designs. These wonderful pieces used to be found in kitchens throughout Quebec and the rest of North America, but full sets have become quite rare and collectable!
